Nature is a place that holds a special place for all of us humans, and living things, even though we have lost our sense to comprehend this as we’ve just used them objectively them for our own personal, and mindless use.
I don’t want anyone saying anything, because yes, the desk in which I’m writing this is made out of wood, and I keep using paper notebooks, but I won’t write about how much we’ve exploded trees in this century because for that you can find THOUSANDS of articles.
Stop here and ask yourself, when was the last time you just stood and stared at a tree. Yes. Just stood, took the time, and admired a tree. Even if it was an inch or twenty inches tall. Even if it had leaves or not. Even if it seemed as if it was about to fall, or as if it was the most ‘boring’ and ‘normal’ tree. When was it?
I don’t care if this makes you look as the craziest or highest person in the world, do this and really get into some sort of mindset I’m about to introduce you to.
Nature is wise ASF. Really. And I find it very sad most of us don’t acknowledge this.
Not just these wonderful tropical islands, or mountain “Mac-lockscreen-looking-like” views. If you are fortunate enough to have a window that shows you some natural landscape, please pay more attention to it. Really. You have a blessing having a window showing nature.
So many people, and I don’t blame you, I’ve been there too and makes this following observation harder, but some have brick walls in front of their window and its just … boring.
Now, back to what i wanted to say. Nature in general is wise, as i said… but trees. Oh boy. Trees give out all sorts of lessons to us.
Since we became an urbanistic society, we have lost the sense with nature, and have been found looking at materialistic things more often, and forgetting we have these beauties growing out of the ground to show us so much.
Trees take years to grow, and get to a certain size. First, they grow on their own, just like us. Even if they are surrounded by other trees, they take up a whole journey of growth on their own, which is magical. And they grow and grow and they all come to this beautiful shape, no matter which one is it (just as humans).
They have a magic talent. They grow and change through the seasons and they have the same transitions as us.
Lets start in spring. Spring is this time, at least in most of the places in the world, when trees start gaining their leaves back from the winter that just passed by and beautiful flowers bloom, birds come around and sing, and everything starts having beautiful colors all around. Everything blooms back from winter. And we people too, start to recover from the cold months and are able to start wearing cute spring outfits to the streets, and all of these cool spring plans we tend to do (I know you know what I’m talking about).
Then summer comes, and everything is vibrant. Hot weather, days of rest, a constant ahhhhhhhh for life. People travel, meet up with friends they haven’t seen for a long time, and we tend to thrive in summer. Trees too. They are in all of their power, color, and vibrance. They have an aahhhhhh as well. They get sun, rain, and just the soil is just fine… everything goes great for all right? Or at least that’s what we may portray from summer when we think of what it’s supposed to look like.
Now, summer ends, and fall starts. Everything starts to change. New chapters open, and everything is being seen from a new lens. New friends, sometimes new school year, jobs start going all in again, and eventually temperatures drop again little by little, and trees change. And they change into these beautiful colors. Orange, red, yellow, and brownish delights. Beautiful! Really. Mesmerizing views are created and they create a whole setting of coziness.
When the leaves are falling, there is this eye gazing ‘leaf dance’ in the air (I like to call it like that) because the wind blows, and the leaves fall in a magestic way. You go to parks, or even on the street and you take a look on how leaves fall in front of you, and it’s as if we were given for some weeks a nature show by leaves. They twirl, swing, fall, and portray all of the shapes they had up there, here on the ground. Closer to us to see. Beauty in a scene. it’s like if they let us see what they look like by passing a year up there and their final true colors, and shapes. They fall off their high view, and fall to the ground.
And this happens to many people too. In fall, they come down from these warm months and hit the ground (not literally) and become more vulnerable with themselves. They show themselves their true colors and the changes they have gone throughout the entire year. And people fall into realization of different things about their lives. In fact, many people start getting low-key depressed in fall because of this. The acknowledge how much the have done for themselves and for others through the year, its half-end of the year and it’s a moment of change for all, or most of us.
Winter comes. And I think, or have found (living here in Poland, more than ever) they are so wise, and have so much to teach. Here come and read what trees have taught me this past month.
They go bald. They lose all of their leafs in the cold. And this is watching trees naked basically. You see trees for what they are formed of, and not why what decorates them.
You see all the stems, all the form the tree has without the leaves and you understand the shape it gets.
To all of this… here comes their power. They let go. They let go so gracefully of the leaves they have, they accept the shape they have and stick to it, until new leaves and flowers start to bloom in spring again.
And it shows you how OK it is to change. They don’t start the year the same way they end it. And it’s so beautiful to come to a conclusion like this from trees. They are the best at letting go, I like to think.
We humans, tend to attach a lot, and more at the end of the year. We are afraid to show ourselves the entire change and growth we have created through the year, and would like to remain in our comfort zone. We attach so so so much! Everyone (unless you are a master in detachment, which I envy you a little in the positive way).
We realize how w e don’t started the year as we have ended it. We have learnt so much, became a little wiser than our previous self, a little more conscious, a little more mistakes made, and a little more lessons learnt. Some things or people we had are gone, and some stayed. But we can’t get through this changes with the same gracefulness trees do, or maybe we do but our mind stops us from being able to look at it and FORCES us to end up accepting it.
The year ends, and now we say “new year, new me”. Well yes, but it’s until THIS moment you commit with yourself to accept the version of yourself you couldn’t accept at the end of the year.
And like this, we start a new year, with a new us, and we repeat the process with this magestic, energy giving masters called trees which we now don’t even pay attention to and the have so much to say.
Trees are our mentors and teachers, which we give for granted everyday.
Go and hug a tree. You will feel better and in a very weird way. How can this be? It’s a form of grounding yourself to earth and origin. Trees, in fact, are one of the biggest sources of energetic flow in this physical planet.
Hug it, feel it, dance with their branches, see it, listen to it, admire it, or be in silence with it for a minute or a couple if you want. They hold energy from inside the universe just to let it out and be able to make you breath.
Love them. They give us a lot. We don’t give as much back to them as we should.
They are the wiser beings. We are just very ignorant.
Take care.
I love you.
Milena.
